Shi Yan Ju, a 34th generation Shaolin Master, is the founder and head of the Chicago Shaolin Temple. The Chicago Shaolin Temple is
a subsidiary
organization
of the Songshan Shaolin Temple in Henan, China. The goal of the Chicago Shaolin
Temple is to preserve the 1,500 year history of the Chan (Zen) Sect of
the Songshan Shaolin Temple, and to introduce and promote the Shaolin
culture to the world.
Master Shi Yan Ju has focused his practice on QiGong, Internal QiGong, Iron Shirt,
Iron Crotch, 72 QinNa (joint locking) techniques, and 108 Hand Strikes. He has traveled with the
China Shaolin Temple Abbot, Shi Yong Xin, to visit over 20 countries to
spread the name of Shaolin Kung Fu.
The Shaolin Kung Fu program at Energy Fitness Active Arts Center is an extension program of the Chicago Shaolin Temple. Shi Yan Ju oversees the curriculum, format and teaching styles of all the Shaolin instructors to make sure it adheres to the standards set by the Shaolin Temple in Henan, China. He offers a great opportunity for Kung Fu enthusiasts on the NW side of Chicago to practice authentic Songshan Shaolin Temple Kung Fu.
